Refund & Cancellation Policy
Effective: April 2026 · Issued under the Consumer Protection (E-Commerce) Rules 2020 §5(3)
1. Success-fee services (DTAA recovery)
For DTAA recovery and Section 119(2)(b) condonation matters, our fee model is 15% of the actual refund recovered, payable only after the refund credits to your bank. If we recover nothing, you owe nothing. There is no advance, no retainer, and no cancellation charge for these mandates.
You can withdraw the engagement at any time before we file your case. If you withdraw after a Section 119(2)(b) application has been filed but before approval, you are not charged a fee — but the application itself remains on file with the CBDT, since we cannot withdraw a filed application without your AO's acknowledgement.
2. Flat-fee services
Flat-fee scoped work (Form 13 lower-TDS certificate, Form 15CA/15CB, ITR filing, Form 10F / Form 41 generation, Section 148 response, Schedule FA correction, etc.) is billed upfront. Refunds are governed by the table below.
- Within 24 hours of payment, before any work begins: 100% refund, no questions asked. Email hello@trustnri.in from the same address you used at signup.
- After we've started but before submission to the tax authority: pro-rata refund based on time spent (typically 30-60% returned).
- After submission to the tax authority: non-refundable. The work has been delivered — adjustments / appeals are billed as a separate scope.
3. Annual subscription / compliance bundles
TrustNRI Annual subscriptions can be cancelled at any time with a pro-rata refund for the unused portion of the year. Cancellations within 7 days of signup are refunded in full, no questions asked.
We will not auto-renew without written consent. Renewal reminders go out 30 days before the next billing cycle.
4. Free tools and calculators
All calculators, the AIS analyzer, the Form 10F / Form 41 generator, the compliance radar, residential-status checker, country DTAA guides, blog articles, and the jargon glossary are free and require no signup. There is nothing to refund.
5. How to request a refund
Email hello@trustnri.in with:
- The email address you used at signup
- The service name and date of payment
- The reason for the refund (optional, but it helps us improve)
We acknowledge within 72 hours and process refunds within 7 working days of approval. Refunds go back to the original payment method (UPI / card / bank). For credit-card payments, the bank takes a further 2-7 business days to reflect the credit.
6. Disputes & grievance escalation
If a refund decision is disputed, escalate to our Grievance Officer at grievance@trustnri.in. Resolution within 30 days, in line with DPDP Rules. Beyond that, you can approach the Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission under the Consumer Protection Act 2019, or India's Data Protection Board for any data-handling concerns.
7. No hidden fees
All fees are listed on our Schedule of Charges and Pricing pages. GST (18%) is added where applicable per Indian tax law. There are no hidden cancellation fees, no exit penalties, no consultation charges.
This policy is governed by the laws of India. Any disputes are subject to the jurisdiction of the courts in Bengaluru. For questions about this policy, write to hello@trustnri.in.
